EIGHT TEMPLE STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO INQUIRER ACADEMIC ALL-AREA TEAMS

PHILADELPHIA -- Eight Temple University student-athletes, including four from the men's crew team, were named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area spring sports teams announced Sunday, June 25. The eight brings the overall total to 18 Temple student-athletes honored in the first year of the program's existence. Only Haverford (28), Penn (20) and Villanova (19) had more student-athletes honored among the 28 institutions encompassing the Philadelphia area. The teams are voted on by the sports information offices of the area schools.
Junior Dante Cammarata and sophomores Bill Gennaro, Don Powers and Robert Protesto comprise the four men's crew honorees. Protesto, who compiled a 3.82 cumulative grade point average as a mathematics major, and Cammarata (3.54, Pharmacy), rowed on the Owls' Varsity 8 boat while Gennaro (3.57, Communications) and Powers (3.55, History/Political Science), were members of the Second Varsity 8.
Senior Kristen Hermann, who earned a 3.62 cumulative grade point average as a Communication/Journalism major, was the lone women's crew honoree from Temple while seniors Matt Kobialka (3.73, History) and Ana Maslesa (3.32 English/Secondary Education) represented Temple in men's track and women's tennis, respectively. Junior Adrienne Repsher, a member of Temple's Trustees Honor Roll (Top 10 GPAs among student-athletes), was named to the softball team. Repsher boasts a 3.83 cumulative grade point average as an Elementary Education major.
