TEMPLE ANNOUNCES STARTING TIMES FOR 2006 HOME FOOTBALL GAMES

7.13.06 | Football

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics today announced starting times for the Owls' four football games at Lincoln Financial Field in 2006. Temple's home opener versus Louisville on September 9 will begin at 12 noon, with the contests versus Mid-American Conference foes Kent State (Oct. 7), Bowling Green (Oct. 28) and Central Michigan (Nov. 4) slated for 1:00 p.m.

Louisville features a pair of Heisman Trophy candidates, referred to as the the "Derby City Duo," in senior running back Michael Bush and junior quarterback Brian Brohm.  Head coach Bobby Petrino, who today signed a new, 10-year contract, leads a Cardinal squad all but certain to be nationally-ranked after concluding the 2005 campaign ranked 19th by the AP with a 9-3 mark.

Kent State, Bowling Green and Central Michigan provide half of the Owls' six contests against MAC opponents this season. Temple, which joined the league as an affiliate member in May 2005, begins a full conference slate in 2007.  The MAC, which will play its 60th gridiron season in 2006, has three guaranteed bowl tie-ins.  Often referred to as the "Conference of Quarterbacks," the league leads the 11 I-A conferences in long term graduation rates for football student-athletes.

Temple, under the direction of first-year head coach Al Golden, begins preseason practice on Friday, August 4.

Season tickets for Temple Football are available now for as low as $36 by calling 215-204-8499 or visiting www.owlsports.com. Individual game tickets will go on sale August 4 through Ticketmaster.
