ELLIOT SEIFERT NAMED TO ROTARY LOMBARDI AWARD WATCH LIST

Seifert is a graduate student working toward a master's in biology who earned an undergraduate degree in biology this past May. Ranked as the 45th best OT in the nation by Phil Steele's, he was honored as the team's scholar-athlete award winner by the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame on May 10. A very active participant in the team's Owl Outreach program dedicated to community service, he is a two-time (2003, 2004) Big East All-Academic team honoree. Seifert started all 10 games he played at right tackle in 2005 after started all 11 games at RT as a third-year sophomore in 2004.
Seifert was one of 58 players added to the preliminary list of 43 players who were announced in March. The new additions are players who have been highlighted in various pre-season honors lists. Any player who meets the basic award criteria (a down lineman on either side of the ball--including tight ends, and linebackers who line up within five yards of the ball) is eligible to receive votes. This year's list is almost evenly divided between offensive and defensive players, with 54 defenders and 47 offensive players currently listed.
