WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO UMBC, 2-0

BALTIMORE, MD- Jessica Young and Mary Hearin each scored for the Retrievers, as the UMBC women's soccer team (2-2-1) evened its record with a 2-0 victory over
Hearin put the ball into the upper far corner of the net from 25 yards out after a throw-in at the 11:11 mark for the Retrievers' first goal.
The Retrievers took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Young sent senior forward Megan Jupiter's feed into the lower left corner from 15 yards out to give UMBC a 2-0 advantage in the 49th minute.The Owls continued to fight, firing eight shots at UMBC goalie Christine Bacinski in the second half but failed to convert.
Bacinski recorded five saves, while Robin Babaris started the game between the pipes and posted one save in 45 minutes of play.
The Owls out-shot UMBC, 13-7, and held a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks. Charisma Wright and Natalie Mell each led Temple with three shots.
Temple returns home to Philadelphia to take on the Drexel Dragons on Sunday at 7 p.m.
