THIS WEEK
Under the direction of second-year head coach Al Golden, Temple returns home to Philadelphia to host Miami. Kickoff is set for Noon on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Lincoln Financial Field.

The game will be televised regionally by ESPN (shown on myphl17 in Philadelphia and on WLYH in the Lancaster/Harrisburg/Lebanon area) with Mark Reghi handling play-by-play and Doug Chapman on color commentary.

The Owls' radio broadcast will air on The Big Talker, WPHT 1210 AM, with Harry Donahue calling the play-by-play and Steve Joachim providing color analysis. Live gametracker stats and live audio streaming will be available on the Temple Athletics website at www.owlsports.com.

Under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Shane Montgomery, the RedHawks are riding a three-game winning streak to stand 4-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the MAC after a 47-14 win over Bowling Green last Saturday. Montgomery led the RedHawks to a share of the MAC East Division title in his first season in 2005. He also serves at the team's offensive coordinator.

Miami has won three games in a row for the first time since 2005. During its recent three-game success, the RedHawk defense has allowed just 13.3 points per game. In its first four games, Miami gave up 35.7 ppg.

Both Temple and Miami utilize a multiple offense and a 4-3 defense. Like Miami, Temple is enjoying the sweet taste of success. The Owls have won two consecutive MAC games. This is the first time since 2002 that the Owls have posted consecutive wins and the first consecutive victories in conference play in 40 years when the Cherry and White played in the old MAC (Middle Atlantic Conference). It was also the team's first road win since 2003, snapping a string of 24 straight road defeats.

Temple and Miami sport youthful rosters. The RedHawks, which return 49 lettermen from last season, have four freshmen as starters. Against Akron, TU started a season-high seven freshmen.

In series action, Miami won the teams' only meeting in 2005. The RedHawks claimed a 41-14 win at Lincoln Financial Field.

Temple has no players on its roster from the state of Ohio. Miami has six players from Pennsylvania, but all hail from the Pittsburgh area.

TEMPLE-MIAMI: THE SERIES
Saturday's game will mark the second meeting between the Owls and the Red Hawks. While Temple has sponsored football since 1894 and Miami has fielded a team since 1888, the teams have met just once. On Oct. 29, 2005, Miami claimed a 41-14 win at Lincoln Financial Field. The game was the Owls' final home game of the 2005 campaign and the last under eighth-year head coach Bobby Wallace.

Only four current Owls played in the game. Offensively WR Bruce Francis had two catches for 12 yards, and FB Josh Bundy had one carry for two yards, one reception for eight yards, and two special teams tackles. On defense, DT Terrance Knighton had two solo tackles, while DB Richard Sheppard also had a tackle. Three were true freshmen, while Bundy was a sophomore.
