Under the direction of second-year head coach Al Golden, Temple travels to Athens, Ohio, to meet the Ohio Bobcats. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 at Peden Stadium.
The Owls' radio broadcast will air on WNTP 990 AM with Harry Donahue calling the play-by-play and Steve Joachim providing color analysis. Live gametracker stats and live audio and video streaming will be available on the Temple Athletics website at www.owlsports.com.
Under the guidance of third-year head coach Frank Solich, the Bobcats claimed their first MAC win in divisional play with a 38-27 win at Bowling Green. Ohio stands 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the MAC. Named the 2006 MAC Coach of the Year, Solich led Ohio to the MAC East Division title last fall en route to appearances in the MAC Championship Game and the GMAC Bowl.
Both Temple and Ohio utilize a multiple offense and a 4-3 defense. Ohio got back on the winning track at Bowling Green. Senior RB Kalvin McRae, this week's MAC Offensive Player of the Week for the East Division, became Ohio's all-time leading rusher after running for 200 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday night. The Bobcats recorded more than 400 yards of total offense for the third straight game.
Temple is enjoying the sweet taste of success. The Owls have won three consecutive MAC games. This is the first time since 1990 that the Owls have posted three consecutive wins in one season and the first three consecutive victories in conference play in 40 years when the Cherry and White played in the old MAC (Middle Atlantic Conference).
Temple and Ohio sport youthful rosters. The Bobcats, which return 38 lettermen from last season, have 48 freshmen on their roster.Only five freshmen appear on the depth chart, while only one freshman-- WR LaVon Brazill-- has received a starting nod. Temple has played 25 freshmen this season, including the nation's most true freshmen (20). In its last two games, TU has started a season-high seven freshmen.
This is the first meeting between the schools in football. Ohio and Temple have not played any common non-conference opponents.
Temple has no players on its roster from the state of Ohio. Ohio has 10 players from Pennsylvania, but none from the Philadelphia area.
For the second time this season, Temple plays on a Friday night. The Owls opened the season on a Friday, their first Friday night home game, with Navy on August 31.
