THIS WEEK
Under the direction of second-year head coach Al Golden, Temple hosts Kent State on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the home finale. Kickoff is set for Noon at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Owls' radio broadcast will air on The Big Talker, WPHT 1210 AM, with Harry Donahue calling the play-by-play and Steve Joachim providing color analysis. Live gametracker stats and live audio and video streaming will be available on the Temple Athletics website at www.owlsports.com.

Riding a five-game losing streak, Kent State stands 3-6 overall and 1-5 in Mid-American play following a 27-20 loss at Northern Illinois. The Golden Flashes are led by sophomore RB Eugene Jarvis who has amassed 1,429 yards on 232 carries, ranking fifth nationally with 142.9 yards per game. Against NIU, Jarvis re-wrote the Kent State single-season rushing record [previously 1,325 yards, set by Eric Wilkerson in 1988]. He is KSU's scoring leader with 11 touchdowns. In the air, sophomore WR Phil Garner is the leader with 24 catches for 223 yards.

Like Temple, Kent State has lost its starting quarterback to a season-ending injury against Bowling Green on Oct. 20-- the same day Temple lost QB Adam DiMichele with a broken left leg. QB Julian Edelman is out with a broken right arm. True freshman Giorgio Morgan will take snaps under center for the remainder of the year. In his first start against NIU, he went 5-of-8 for 27 yards before sophomore Jon Brown came in, going 16-of-34 for 132 yards and a touchdown.

Temple employs a multiple offense and a 4-3 defense. Kent State utilizes a spread offense and a 3-4 defense.

The Owls are coming off a 31-0 blanking by No. 25 Penn State at Lincoln Financial Field. The crowd of 69,029 strong re-wrote the school's all-time home attendance record.

This fall, Temple had won three consecutive MAC games, marking the first time since 1990 that the Owls had posted three consecutive wins in one season and the first three consecutive victories in conference play in 40 years when the Cherry and White played in the old MAC (Middle Atlantic Conference).

With 48 freshmen (including 12 redshirt freshmen) on its roster, KSU returns 32 lettermen from last season, including 16 starters. Thirteen freshmen are listed on the depth chart.

For the second straight year, Temple has the nation's youngest team. The Owls have played 25 freshmen this season, including the nation's most true freshmen (20) and the nation's most freshman starters (11). In three of its last four games, TU has started a season-high seven freshmen.

Temple has no players on its roster from the state of Ohio. Kent State has 10 players from Pennsylvania, but none from the Philadelphia area.

TEMPLE-KENT STATE CONNECTIONS
Temple junior DB Georg Coleman and Kent State sophomore RB Eugene Jarvis were both first-team Associated Press All-State selections in 2004, playing against each other in the Pennsylvania AAAA state championship as seniors. Coleman carried 17 times for 162 yards and a touchdown for Neshaminy at RB. Neshaminy lost to Central Catholic which featured Jarvis in its backfield.

TEMPLE-KENT STATE-- THE SERIES
