Women's Soccer Ends Season With Scoreless Tie At Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA - Freshman goalkeeper Kara Williams helped break Temple's seven-game losing streak and end the 2007 season with a 0-0 tie against Saint Joseph's at Finnesey Field. The Owls finish with a record of 5-10-4 (1-8-2 A-10), while the Hawks end their season with a record of 3-15-1 (1-9-1 A-10).
Defense was the name of the game in the in the first half, as each team registered just one shot on goal. The Owls out-shot the Hawks seven to three in the second half but could not put the ball past Hawks' goalkeeper Megan Bastianelli, who had three saves in the game after relieving Jen Kuhn in the second half.
The teams headed to overtime, but no one could provide their team with the winning goal. Kelly Lare led the Owls offensive charge with two shots on goal, while sophomore Carly Metzger and junior Wendy Halina each added one shot on goal.
Williams registered her third shutout of the year and finishes with 91 saves, good for third in the A-10.
