Ferancova Named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University freshman women's tennis player Radka Ferancova has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday. Ferancova shares the honor with Xavier freshman Jill Durco.
Ferancova, a native of Lucenec, Slovakia, helped the Owls to a 2-0 record for the week, posting a perfect 2-0 record at both second singles and second doubles. Ferancova opened the week by blanking Lehigh's Alexis Jacobi 6-0, 6-0. She then teamed with junior Dina Senkina for an 8-0 win at second doubles.
Later in the week, Ferancova bested New Jersey Institute of Technology's Marie Henry, 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Senkina once again at No. 2 doubles for an 8-1 victory.
Ferancova now owns a perfect 3-0 record at the second singles spot on the season. She is 3-1 with Senkina at No. 2 doubles.
The Owls return to action on Friday, February 23 (4:00 p.m.) when they travel to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army.
