PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University men's tennis team earned its second-straight win as it topped New Jersey Institute of Technology, 6-1, on Saturday at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Club. The Owls are now 5-5 on the season.

Sophomore Nathan Spunda was victorious at first singles, defeating Steve Erickson, 7-5, 6-4. Spunda is now 8-1 in singles play on the season. Senior captain Daniel Davis bested Jonathan Lang, 6-1, 3-6, 3-0, and junior Zach Tobias defeated Cosmin Chiujdea, 6-4, 6-1 at the third slot. Freshmen Pavlos Stephanides and Gonzalo De Villa were also victorious at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.

Temple (5-5) swept doubles action with Spunda and Tobias blanking their opponents, 8-0, at second doubles.

"This was another good team effort," said Coach Steve Mauro. "NJIT was a much improved team from last year, so it was a solid win for us."

The Owls next travel to Boca Raton, FL to take on St. Thomas (FL) Tuesday, March 6 (2:00 p.m.).
