Women's Tennis Splits Weekend Play

WEST POINT, NY- The Temple University women's tennis team had its three-game win streak snapped with a 5-2 loss to Cornell on Saturday. The Owls recovered later in the day to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson 5-2. Temple is now 6-2 on the spring season.
In the early match against Cornell, senior Yuri Kurashima defeated Elizabeth Googe, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (7) at the first singles spot. Sophomore Felicia Frazier provided the other point for the Owls defeating Catherine Duboc, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (5) at the sixth singles position.
While Temple dropped at No. 1 and 3 doubles, Radka Ferancova and Dina Senkina teamed up to give the Owls a win at the No. 2 doubles position, 8-3.
Later in the day, Temple recovered to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson 5-2. Radka Ferancova bested Clara Smith, 6-0, 6-2, at the third singles position and Felicia Frazier downed Ksenia Chernyshova, 6-1, 6-0, at the fourth spot. Freshmen Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Whitney Tillman swept their matches at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Temple (6-2) blanked Fairleigh Dickinson in doubles play.
The Owls will resume action on Monday, March 5th when they travel to Ft. Myers, FL to take on Toledo (10:00 a.m.).
