Temple Improves To 2-0 With Win Over Saint Peter's

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Temple women's tennis team traveled to Jersey City on Sunday and had a "super" day, sweeping host Saint Peter's 7-0. The Owls improved to 2-0 on the season with the victory.
Third-year head coach Traci Green was pleased with her team's efforts, especially that of junior Dina Senkina and freshman Christine Clermont. Senkina, who moved up to the number one singles slot due as senior Yuri Kurashima (ill) was unavailable, defeated Vanessa Pangikas, 6-0, 6-0, for her first win of the season in match competition while Clermont, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year, posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fifth singles over Jing Cheung.
Freshman Radka Ferancova was victorious at second singles, while senior Sharanya Pattabi and freshman Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova won their matches at second, third and fourth singles, respectively. The Peacocks only had five players available for the match and thus defaulted sixth singles and third doubles.
The Owls next travel to Princeton where they will next take on Penn State on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m..
