DeLAND, FL - With a three-run lead, at 5-2, heading into the home half of the seventh inning, Temple (3-10) surrendered four runs on five hits as Stetson (13-4) rallied to win 6-5 Sunday afternoon on the third and final day of the Stetson Tournament in DeLand, Fla.

Sophomore Katie Burdeaux (0-3) tossed four innings for the Cherry and White while allowing five earned runs on seven hits and striking out three in the loss. Freshman pitcher Amanda Lindsey needed just 1.2 innings of work, but struck out four batters in the win for the Hatters.

Trailing by a run after five innings, the Cherry and White took control of the contest after scoring four runs on three hits in the top half of the sixth. Following junior Amanda Carver's pop out to lead-off the inning, the Owls evened the scoring after junior Anna Rico singled and later scored on an RBI base-hit from senior Adrienne Repsher.

The Owls jumped on their first lead of the game two batters later after a wild pitch plated senior Jessica Rohn. With runners on second and third, freshman Krystle Metzler singled scoring Repsher. Sophomore Courtney Norene came around to score on the same play after a Hatters' throwing error.

The Hatters responded with a run in the bottom half of the sixth after sophomore Andrea Migliori homered to lead-off the inning. However, the Cherry and White pushed their advantage back to three runs, at 5-2, in the top half of the seventh after junior Natalie Wagner scored on an RBI ground out from Rohn.

Junior Blythe Golden and freshman Amy Joyce got the Hatter rally started after leading off the seventh with consecutive singles. After junior Nicole Forbes singled to score Golden, Migliori's two-run single knotted the game at five runs apiece. With two outs and the bases-loaded, freshman Jessica Lokeinsky singled home the game's winning run.

Despite Sunday's loss, the Owls escape DeLand as winners of three games in five outings. Second-year head coach Casey Dickson couldn't say enough about her team's competitiveness and development over the past five games.

"The way our team is fighting to win is priceless," praised Dickson. "We had some great games this weekend that boosted our team's chemistry."

The Cherry and White return north from sunny Florida, but will enjoy an extended break before a double-header on Wednesday, March 21 at Delaware State. Game one is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. while game two's first pitch will be thrown at approximately 4:00 p.m.
