State College, Pa.- Allison Frengs scored two goals and assisted on one other but it wasn't enough to overcome a scoreless Temple second half, as the Owls dropped a 17-5 decision to #14 Penn State on Tuesday night. Temple falls to 2-4 on the season, while the Nittany Lions improve to 6-1.
Freshman Chelsea Rosiek added two goals for the Cherry and White, while Casey Cech netted one goal. Johna Capaldo dished one assist. Netminder Bridget McMullan had six saves, all of which were in the second half.
Penn State jumped out to a 2-0 lead but Frengs found Cech to make it 2-1 at 21:23. The Nittany Lions answered with a five goal run to make it 7-1 at 16:50. Frengs scored two straight goals in two minutes to get Temple within five (8-3) but Penn State continued to plug away and took a 10-3 lead with over 10 minutes to play. Rosiek found the back of the net twice before the break to again make it a five goal game (10-5) but that would be as close as the Owls would come.
Temple returns home to face Old Dominion on Saturday at 1 p.m.
