PHILADELPHIA - The Temple softball team (4-11), under the direction of second-year head coach Casey Dickson, begins its home and Atlantic 10 Conference schedule on Sunday, March 25 with a doubleheader against Charlotte. The first pitch of game one will be thrown at noon while game two is scheduled to start at approximately 2:00 p.m.

The Cherry and White come into Sunday's twin bill as winners in four of their last seven outings. Most recently, the Owls took game one of a double-dip, 8-4, with Delaware State before falling in the night cap 13-12.

True freshman Krystle Metzler collected three hits and slammed a second-inning, solo homerun in the 8-4 win over the Hornets. True freshman hurler Ashley Smuda went the distance for the Owls while striking out a career-best six and posting her first career complete game.

In the top half of the first inning of game two, senior Adrienne Repsher sliced the 13th homerun of her Temple career. With that long-ball, the veteran first baseman has four on the season and now moves into a tie for first place all-time on the Cherry and White career homerun list with former Owl Lynsey Grace (2001-04).

Additionally, Repsher's 17 RBI is a team-high and already eclipses her total output from the 2006 season (16) in just 15 games.

Sophomore Courtney Norene's early-season tear continued against the Hornets as the Wheatland, Calif. native collected three hits, two runs scored and one RBI in eight at-bats. Entering Wednesday's games, Norene ranked first among all Atlantic 10 players with a .486 batting average and five homeruns.

Through 11 games, Smuda has beared the bulk of the pitching duties for Dickson. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native's 4.28 ERA, 38 strikeouts and 50.2 innings of work are team-bests

Following Sunday's doubleheader with the 49ers, the Cherry and White return to the road for Broad & Olney and cross-city rival La Salle on Friday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m. The Owls and Explorers will play game two of a two-day series on Saturday, March 31 at noon.
