Owls Open Atlantic 10 Schedule On Friday At La Salle

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Due to Sunday's doubleheader rain-out with Charlotte, the Owls will now open their Atlantic 10 schedule on the road Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. against La Salle. The Owls and Explorers will meet on Sunday at noon in game two of the two-day weekend series.
The Owls, under the direction of second-year head coach Casey Dickson, enter Friday's game after an eight-day lay-off following a doubleheader at Delaware State on Wednesday, March 21. The Cherry and White split the twin-bill with the Hornets after taking game one, 8-4, then dropping the nightcap, 13-12.
In game one, true freshman Krystle Metzler collected three hits and two RBI while slamming her second homerun of the season in the top half of the second inning. True freshman pitcher Ashley Smuda posted her first career complete game while striking out a career-high six.
In game two, senior Adrienne Repsher's first inning homerun was the 13th of her Temple career. The solo homerun, her fourth this season, now ranks her in a tie for first place all-time on the Cherry and White career homerun list with former Owl Lynsey Grace (2001-04). Senior Jessica Rohn collected two hits while scoring three runs in the Temple loss.
The Cherry and White enter conference play this weekend atop the Atlantic 10 in team batting average with a .298 clip. Sophomore Courtney Norene leads the Temple attack with a league-best .465 batting average and five homeruns. Repsher ranks first among all Owls with 17 runs knocked in, 17 runs scored and four doubles.
Following the weekend tilt with the Explorers, the Owls remain on the road for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 4 with cross-city rival Penn.
