PHILADELPHIA - Temple senior Adrienne Repsher (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) has been named the Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week. In the Owls' two-game sweep of Wagner on Wednesday, April 11, Repsher posted a perfect 5-for-5 day at the plate while slamming two homeruns and knocking in four.
Repsher's first inning, opposite-field home run, off the Ambler Softball Field scoreboard, in game one was her eighth of the season and matched former Owl Danielle Fagan's single-season home run record. The veteran first baseman, amidst a perfect 3-for-3 outing, tallied three runs, posted two RBI and was just a triple shy of the cycle in game one's 6-1 win over the Seahawks.
With a runner aboard in the first frame of game two, Repsher launched a Danielle Wagoner offering to straight-away centerfield for her record-setting ninth home run of the season. The Nazareth, Pa. native's new single-season mark comes on the heels of eclipsing Temple's career homerun record with her 14th long-ball as an Owl last week against Fordham.
The four-year starter now has 18 career homeruns and ranks fourth all-time on Temple's RBI charts (81) while hitting safely in the last seven contests. Defensively, Repsher has yet to commit an error all season.
Repsher's A-10 leading .456 (31-for-68) batting clip heads a Temple offense that ranks second (.309 BA) in the conference. The left-hander ranks first among all conference players with nine homeruns and tied for third with 29 RBI. With the NCAA's first release of national statistics last week, Repsher ranked 18th in slugging percentage (.912).
The Cherry and White returns to action for a doubleheader with cross-city rival Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, April 18 starting at 2:00 p.m.
