PHILADELPHIA - After a one-week lay-off and three cancelled games due to inclement weather, the Temple softball team (9-14, 3-3) will resume action at home on Wednesday, April 18 in a crucial Atlantic 10 doubleheader with cross-city rival Saint Joseph's (11-17, 4-4). The first pitch of game one is scheduled to be tossed at 2:00 p.m.

The Cherry and White resume conference play following a two-game sweep of Wagner last Wednesday, April 11. Behind a strong four-inning effort from true freshman hurler Ashley Smuda, the Owls cruised to a comfortable 6-1 win. Seniors Adrienne Repsher, Jessica Rohn and sophomore Courtney Norene all homered for Temple.

The Owls used three runs in each of the first two innings en route to rallying from a five-score deficit for a 10-6 win in game two. Repsher's first inning homerun, to straight-away centerfield, was her ninth this season and sets Temple's new single-season mark, a record formerly owned by Danielle Fagan (2006). Rohn, sophomore Nicole Lee and true freshman Krystle Metzler collected two hits apiece while junior pitcher Brianna Dairy captured her first win as an Owl.

With the NCAA's first release of national statistics on Sunday, April 8, the offensive production of Repsher and sophomore Katie Burdeaux have been well-publicized. Repsher ranked tied for ninth (.33) in home runs per game, 10th (1.19) in RBI per game and 18th (.810) in slugging percentage. Burdeaux ranked fourth (.912) in slugging percentage, tied for 18th (.31) in home runs per game and 27th (.441) in batting average.

As a team, the Cherry and White ranked ninth (1.24) in home runs per game and 23rd (.486) in slugging percentage.

Among the Atlantic 10 standings released Monday, Repsher, the conference's Player of the Week honoree, ranks first among all players with a .456 batting clip and nine homeruns. The senior first baseman also ranks in a tie for third with 29 RBI. Burdeaux's .436 batting average and the Owls' .309 team clip rank second in the conference.

Following Wednesday's twinbill with the Hawks, the Owls welcome A-10 front-running Massachusetts (22-12-1, 8-0) to the Ambler Softball Field for a two-game set starting Friday at 3:00 p.m. Game two is set for Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and will be part of Temple's annual Cherry and White Day festivities.
