Christmas, Salisbery, Tyndale Earn All-Big 5 Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University sophomore Dionte Christmas has been named First Team All-Philadelphia Big 5 with senior Dustin Salisbery and junior Mark Tyndale earning Second Team All-Big 5 honors. The three Owl guards will pick up their awards at the Herb Good Club's 62nd annual banquet, Monday, April 23, 2007 at Colleen's, 22nd Street and the Parkway.
Christmas, a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference and all-District honoree, led the Conference and Big 5 in scoring with a 20.0 scoring average. He was named A-10 and Big 5 Player of the Week four times during the 2006-07 season.
Christmas also was the recipient of the Cy Kaselman Award given to the Big 5's Free Throw Percentage leader, the Palumbo Award given to the Big 5's scoring leader and the Big 5's Most Improved Player.
Salisbery, who earned Big 5 Player of the Week honors on Dec. 10, had his best season as an Owl, averaging 16.4 points per game and finishing his stellar career with 1,276 points to rank 27th on the Temple all-time scoring list. Tyndale, an Honorable Mention All-Atlantic 10 selection, twice earned A-10 and Big 5 Player of the Week accolades. He also topped the 1,000-point plateau and finished the season with a 19.4 scoring average to rank second in the A-10 and Big 5.
Senior Dion Dacons was the recipient of the Big 5's Harry Merrill Sportsmanship Award.
Penn's Ibby Jaaber was named Big Five 5 Most Outstanding Player with teammate Mark Zoller, Villanova's Curtis Sumpter and Scottie Reynolds, and Ahmad Nivins of Saint Joseph's also earning first team honors.
Joining Salisbery and Tyndale on the second team is La Salle's Darnell Harris, Villanova's Mike Nardi and Pat Calathes of Saint Joseph's.
