PITTSBURGH,PA,-Temple scored the first four goals and never looked back as the Owls topped the Duquesne women's lacrosse team 10-7 on Sunday afternoon. Allison Frengs, Katie Yori and Nicole Caniglia all scored two goals as the Cherry and White improved to 3-2 in the A-10 and 5-9 overall.
Caniglia, Summerlin and Frengs allowed Temple to take a 4-0 lead with 13:12 remaining. The Dukes finally got on the board with a goal at 8:51 but Kelly Yemm added one more to make it 5-1 at halftime.
The teams went goal for goal in the second stanza, thanks to goals by Johna Capaldo, Yori and Brittany Hoffman but Temple was able to hold on for the 10-7 win.
The teams had 25 shots a piece, while Temple had the advantage with ground balls 17-11 and draw controls 13-7. Temple keeper Bridget McMullan made 13 saves to the Duke' Caitlin Carducci who stopped nine Owls shots.
Temple returns home to host La Salle in its regular season closer on Friday at 4 p.m.
