AMBLER, PA - The Temple softball team (14-16, 7-5) captured its third straight win, and eighth out of its last 10 outings, following a 9-1 win over Rider (6-27, 1-7) on Tuesday afternoon at the Ambler Softball Field. Junior Brianna Dairy (4-3) posted her second complete game of the season while striking out four and scattering just three hits.

"I think the real highlight of today's win was the way Brianna threw the ball," praised second-year head coach Casey Dickson. "They started to get to her slightly at the end, but she really showed what she's capable of doing when in the circle."

The Owls' offense, fresh off its 20-hit and 21-run performance in Sunday's two-game sweep of Rhode Island, pounded Rider starter Laci Landrum (1-4) for 11 hits and eight earned runs in four innings of work. Sophomore Katie Burdeaux, batting clean-up and ranked second among all A-10 players with a .442 batting clip entering the game, collected two hits in four at-bats while driving in three runs.

Senior Adrienne Repsher, ranked tops in the conference with a .464 batting average and 13 home runs, ignited the Temple offense with an RBI single, scoring junior Natalie Wagner, in the bottom half of the third.

After the Cherry and White pushed their lead to three runs entering the fourth inning, the Owls tallied five runs on six hits in the bottom half of the fourth and put the Broncs on the brink of an eight-run mercy rule loss. Senior Jess Rohn's double scored two runs before RBI singles from Burdeaux and sophomore Courtney Norene. Freshman Krystle Metzler's sacrifice fly to rightfield, scoring Burdeaux, put the Owls within three outs of a win.

However, the Broncs wouldn't go quietly after two hits and two Temple errors resulted in one run and some momentary breathing room for the visitors. After a Rohn single to lead-off the fifth and the second time Repsher was hit by a Rider pitch, Norene's come-backer to the mound was bobbled, scoring Rohn from third.

Rohn, Burdeaux, junior Natalie Wagner and junior Anna Rico each collected two hits for the Cherry and White.

The Owls' final home game of the season marked the last time both Repsher and Rohn would don the Cherry and White in a game played at the Ambler Softball Field. The high school teammates, accompanied by their parents, were honored in between games on Sunday against Rhode Island.

"It's really special to go out, in my final game at home, with a win," commented Rohn. "But, this isn't nearly the end. We still have a lot to take care of the rest of the way."

Temple resumes conference play at Saint Louis on Friday, April 27 at 8:00 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
