WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Temple softball team (7-14, 3-3), under the direction of second-year head coach Casey Dickson, tallied five runs, on three hits, en route to salvaging game two of a twin-bill with a 6-3 win over George Washington (17-14, 4-6) on Saturday afternoon. The Colonials held the Owls' potent offense at bay with a 6-1 win in game one.

"We came out in the second game and looked more like ourselves," said Dickson. "We executed with runners in scoring position and made routine plays on defense."

Trailing by two runs heading into the top half of the sixth, senior Adrienne Repsher ripped her seventh homerun of the season, and third of the week, as the Cherry and White battled back to even the game's scoring at three runs apiece. Senior Jessica Rohn had led off the inning with a free pass before the game-tying homerun.

Three batters later, after sophomore Katie Burdeaux reached the base-paths on a Colonials' error and sophomore Courtney Norene singled into rightfield, true freshman Krystle Metzler, best among all conference rookies with a .375 batting average heading into play this week, launched an eventual game-winning three-run homerun into the leftfield stands.

"The long-balls definitely came at critical times in game two," asserted the Owls' mentor.

Junior Brianna Dairy made both starts in the circle for the Owls, turning in her better performance in the night-cap. Lasting a season-best 3.2 innings, Dairy struck out three while surrendering three earned runs.

However, Burdeaux (1-4) tossed 3.1 innings of shut-out relief and was credited with her first win of the season. The right-hander allowed just one hit while striking out a season-high five. With the sacks packed full of Colonials, and two outs in the fourth, Burdeaux induced her first batter of the contest, Elana Meyers, into an inning-ending pop-out.

With the Cherry and White down one run after the first frame, Burdeaux, ranked first among all A-10 players with a .467 batting clip entering the week's contests, lifted her fifth homerun of the season, a solo shot, over the centerfield fence. The host Colonials responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, building a 3-1 advantage, before the Owls' plate explosion two innings later.

In the day's first game, George Washington junior Lisa Cohen lasted 5.0 innings while allowing just five hits and one earned run. Repsher highlighted the Owls' offensive attack, that recorded just six hits, with a perfect 3-for-3 day. Rohn scored the Temple lone run.

The Owls return to action and will play this season's first contest at the Ambler Softball Field as part of a non-conference doubleheader with Wagner on Wednesday, April 11. Game one is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
