PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior All-America candidate Adrienne Repsher has been named the OwlSports.com Athlete of the Month for April. Repsher, a co-captain on the Owls' softball team, boasted a team-best .575 batting average, slammed nine home runs and tallied 20 RBI while the Owls posted a 9-6 record.
Repsher's month was highlighted by two record-breaking feats at the plate. In the Owls' loss to Fordham on April 5, the left-hander's third inning solo home run was her 14th as an Owl, setting the program's career all-time record formerly owned by Lynsey Grace (2001-04).
Six days later, in a two-game sweep of Wagner, the veteran first baseman launched her ninth home run of the season, besting the program's single-season mark formerly owned by Danielle Fagan (2006).
Repsher, a two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week (4/16, 4/23) selection during the month, blasted eight of her nine home runs in a nine-game stretch from April 5 - 20. During the same span, Repsher enjoyed a nine-game hit streak, part of 15 games where she had at least one hit.
Defensively, the sure-handed first baseman is also in the midst of a perfect campaign with the leather, having not committed an error all season while flawlessly fielding 240 chances.
Entering this week, the Nazareth, Pa. (Nazareth HS) native ranked first among all Atlantic 10 players with a .478 batting average. She ranked second with 13 home runs and 39 RBI while sitting third with 39 runs scored and 92 total bases.
As of Tuesday, Repsher led the nation for the second consecutive week with a 1.022 slugging percentage. Her 0.41 home runs per game ranked fifth nationally while her .478 batting average and 1.22 RBI per game placed sixth.
Additionally, Repsher's success inside the classroom as an elementary/early childhood education major, boasting a 3.87 grade point average, was recognized at Temple Athletics' Annual Breakfast of Champions as she was tabbed the 2007 Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
