NOTRE DAME, IN - Temple senior 1B Adrienne Repsher has been named an ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-America selection, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Repsher becomes just the fourth Temple student-athlete to receive First Team Academic All-America honors and the first since 1993.

"I'm thrilled that I have been able to represent Temple for four years, and to get an award as prestigious as this, I think it's a direct reflection of my teachers, coaching staff and teammates," said Repsher. "I really can't put into words what this year has meant to me. I'll never forget it."

Repsher's First Team Academic All-America honor is another piece of hardware added to her awards mantle following a storybook season in 2007. Prior to graduating with a 3.87 cumulative GPA as an elementary/early childhood education major, Repsher was named the College of Education's Student of the Year, Temple's Female Student Athlete of the Year, the Atlantic 10 Co-Student Athlete of the Year, a First Team ESPN The Magazine District II All-Academic honoree and an Academic All-Conference selection.

After setting school records in batting average (.456), home runs (13), runs scored (44), slugging percentage (.969) and on-base percentage (.578), Repsher was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, a First Team Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection and a First Team All-Conference honoree. After four seasons donning the Cherry and White, the Nazareth, Pa. native stands as Temple's all-time career leader in home runs (22) and total bases (250) while tied for the top spot in doubles (41).

"Adrienne truly embodies the mission of Temple Athletics and Temple Softball," praised second-year head coach Casey Dickson. "It's truly rewarding to watch all of her hard work and dedication, both in the classroom and on the playing field, be recognized with this wonderful honor."

Repsher becomes Temple Softball's seventh Academic All-America selection following Teresa Reid (Honorable Mention, 1983; Second Team, 1984), Robyn Boyd (Second Team, 1986; First Team, 1987), Judy O'Brien (First Team, 1993) and Jennifer Crabb (Third Team, 1996). Steven Wacker (Men's Soccer), a Second Team Academic All-America selection in 2004, was Temple's last honoree.

Joining Repsher on the University Division Academic All-America Team are P Kasi Carroll (Georgia), P Angela Tincher (Virginia Tech), C Kaleigh Rafter (Detroit Mercy), INF Garland Cooper (Northwestern), INF Elena Myers (George Washington), INF Sara Dyer (Tulsa), OF India Chiles (Tennessee), OF Lillian Hammond (Tennessee) and DP Laura Hill (Winthrop).

The Academic All-America program annually honors over 1600 student-athletes who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA (the College Sports Information Directors of America), a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
