Women's Lacrosse Falls, 13-6, To Top Seeded Richmond In 2007 A-10 Semifinal

PHILADELPHIA - Top-seeded Richmond (13-5, 6-10 A-10) defeated Temple (6-11, 4-3 A-10), 13-6, in the first semifinal game to advance to its third straight A-10 final.
Richmond jumped out to a 5-0 lead to begin the game, thanks to two goals a piece from Allison Furstenburg and Morghan Vahue. Nicole Caniglia got the Owls on the board at 7:13 and Whitney Richards added one more to make it 5-2 at the break. Casey Cech began second half scoring to close the gap to two goals (5-3) but the Spiders went on a two goal run to make it 7-3 with 20 minutes remaining. The teams traded goals for the next few minutes before Richmond scored five unanswered goals to end the game with a 13-6 result.
Richards netted two goals to lead the Owls, while Mandy Friend and Furstenburg had three goals a piece to aid in the Spider win.
A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Jackie Swansburg stopped nine TU shots, while Bridget McMullan had 11 saves.
George Washington (11-6, 6-1 A-10) topped St. Bonaventure (8-7, 5-2 A-10), 15-9, behind five goals from Taylor Donahue. Sunday's Championship can be seen live on CSTV at 3 p.m.
