Temple To Host NACDA Sports Security And Safety Workshop

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University, in conjunction with The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the University of Southern Mississippi Center for Spectator Sports Security Management, will host a Sports Security and Safety Workshop for intercollegiate athletics administrators, event managers and athletics conference administrators on Wednesday, May 9. The workshop will be held in the Fox-Gittis Room of the Liacouras Center from 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
"Ensuring the security and safety of our campuses and athletic venues is of the utmost importance to college administrators. The recent tragedy on the Virginia Tech campus has brought these concerns to the forefront," said Temple University Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw. "This workshop will serve as a good forum for administrators to identify and address potential security issues on their respective campuses."
John Guest from the Department of Homeland Security's Mid-Atlantic Branch and Patrick V. Fiel, Sr., Public Safety Advisor - Education, ADT Security Services, Inc. are the featured speakers at the Workshop.
The list of speakers also includes Temple University's Dr. Michael Jackson, Penn Associate Athletic Director Peggy Kowalski, Saint Joseph's Associate Vice President/Athletic Director Don DiJulia and Albany Deputy Athletic Director Rick Coe.
Also making presentations will be Victor Cooper, Philadelphia Eagles' Director of Facility and Stadium Security, Mike Hasson, Comcast Spectacor Vice President for Security and Services, Dr. Lou Marciani, Director for the Center for Spectator Sports Security Management at the University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Walter Cooper, Operation Director for the Center for Spectator Sports Security Management at the University of Southern Mississippi.
