Official Atlantic 10 All-Conference and Awards Release
PHILADELPHIA - Senior All-America candidate Adrienne Repsher has been named the Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday following a vote conducted by the head coaches. Repsher becomes the first Owl since former Olympic Gold medalist Dionna Harris (1989) to receive the conference's top award.
In addition to being tabbed the Player of the Year, Repsher shared the Student-Athlete of the Year honor with George Washington's Elena Myers, while also being named to the league's first team and all-academic squad.
"The help and support from my team has what made this entire season possible," added Repsher. "It's hard to put into words what this honor really means to me."
Senior shortstop Jessica Rohn received second team recognition while freshman catcher Krystle Metzler was named an all-rookie team honoree.
Repsher enters this week's conference tournament atop the A-10 with a .458 batting clip, which also ranks seventh-nationally. The Nazareth, Pa. native also leads the league in slugging percentage (.969), which also ranks second-nationally, and on-base percentage (.579), while placing second with a school record 13 home runs and third with 39 RBI and 41 runs scored.
Rohn garners her first postseason accolade amidst her best and final season as a member of the Cherry and White. The converted shortstop ranks among the Owls' top five in at-bats (109), runs (31), doubles (6), batting average (.321), hits (35), home runs (5), RBI (25), slugging percentage (.514) and on-base percentage (.380).
Metzler receives all-rookie squad recognition after batting .320, hitting four home runs and tallying 25 RBI. In 33 games, the Phoenix, Ariz. native has posted a .474 slugging percentage and .374 on-base percentage.
UMass sophomore pitcher Brandice Balschmiter repeats as the A-10 Pitcher of the Year while Fordham's Nicole Ayers received the conference's top rookie award. Minutewomen head coach Elaine Sortino was named Coach of the Year for the eighth time.
Fourth-seeded Temple (17-19, 9-7 A-10) begins the quest for its first conference crown since 2004 on Wednesday vs. fifth-seeded Charlotte at noon. Fans can listen to the game's radio broadcast here.
