PHILADELPHIA - Former Owl and current Indianapolis Colt Raheem Brock continued to give back to his hometown via a pair of community service events this past weekend. The events officially kicked-off Brock's new children's foundation, Brock's Kids.

"Through my foundation I plan to work with underprivileged children with an emphasis on education and giving back to the community," Brock stated on his website, www.RaheemBrock.com. "I feel that both of these aspects are important to molding the leaders of tomorrow."

On Friday, June 8, Brock paired with former Owl teammate and current Chicago Bears fullback Jason McKie on a visit to Shriners Childrens Hospital on North Broad Street, where the duo passed out cupcakes, signed autographs, took pictures, and gave out candy bags. The children decorated a room and presented a cake to Brock in honor of his 29th birthday. The following evening, Brock held a celebrity charity bowling party at Lucky Strikes Lanes in Center City. Numerous NFL players, including former Temple All-American and current Colt Dan Klecko, and celebrities were in attendance. Held in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Club, the bowling event was a huge success.

Brock has been steadfast in his support of the Philadelphia community. In 2005, he started the Raheem Brock Student-Athlete Scholarship at his former high school, Murrell Dobbins Tech. The Scholarship awards $1,000 annually to one male and female student-athlete from to be used toward post-secondary education. He also helped the school receive a $10,000 donation from the NFL. This year's awards will be presented at Dobbins on Monday, June 18.

Brock, who is the son of former Owl RB and NFL veteran Zachary Dixon, played in 36 career games (33 starts) at Temple from 1998 to 2001 and made 160 tackles (93 solo), 30 TFLs, 12 sacks, 35 QBHs, 16 PBUs, four FFs and six FRs. He competed in the 2001 Blue-Gray All-Star Classic with teammate Chonn Lacey, assisting the Blue (North) to a 28-10 victory.

Brock and Klecko helped Indianapolis to a 29-17 win over Chicago in Super Bowl XLI on Sunday, February 3. The duo's ring-earning triumph marked the sixth time in the last seven NFL Championships that the winning squad had an Owl alum on its roster. Brock and Klecko's good fortune unfortunately came at the expense McKie. The trio played together in Cherry & White from 1999-2001. Both McKie and Brock received the starting nod on Super Bowl Sunday, with Brock earning his 20th start of the season at defensive tackle. Temple was the only college program to have a player in the starting lineup for both the Colts and Bears in Super Bowl XLI.
