PHILADELPHIA - Jennifer Wong, previously an assistant coach at Rutgers University, will join Head Coach Bonnie Rosen as an assistant coach for the Temple University women's lacrosse team. Rosen is quite familiar with Wong's work ethic, serving as her coach during the pair's time at the University of Connecticut.
"I am so excited to have Jen join the Temple Lacrosse staff," said Rosen. "Having coached Jen during her collegiate career I know first hand about her vast knowledge of the game and true passion for the sport. As both a player and a coach Jen has played a major role in taking programs to next level. Those experiences, combined with her expertise in goalkeeping, make her a very valuable addition to the Temple Lacrosse program."
While at Rutgers, Wong worked primarily with the Scarlet Knights' goalies and defensive unit. In her two years at RU, the squad improved from an unranked team with a 6-10 record to a #14 ranked team with a 12-5 record. Wong was also responsible for scouting opponents, recruiting, editing film, producing highlight videos, managing equipment, organizing camps and clinics and fund raising. In addition, she was in charge of overall academic support for the lacrosse team.
A four-year netminder (2001-05) for the University of Connecticut women's lacrosse team, Wong helped her squad to a 2005 ECAC Championship and a #15 national ranking. A business administration major, her 3.4 grade point average earned her spots on the IWLCA Academic, UConn and Big East Honor Rolls.
Wong has also worked various camps, including the Colorado Classic and Colorado Premier Camps, the NDP Colorado Cup and clinics at Rutgers, UConn and the University of Denver.
