Temple Women's Lacrosse Receives IWLCA Academic Honors

PHILADELPHIA - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) has recognized Bridget McMullan, Berkley Summerlin and the Temple women's lacrosse team for their outstanding academic performance during the 2007 season. McMullan and Summerlin were two of 410 student-athletes named to the Honor Roll, while the Owl squad was one of 40 Division I Honor teams that had over a 3.00 grade point average.
McMullan started every game in goal for the Owls this season, posting a 41% save percentage. An art major, McMullan stopped 124 opponent shots, with a season-high 10 saves coming against Penn and North Carolina. She also led the team in groundballs (34) and compiled two caused turnovers and one draw control.
A communications major, Summerlin is a two-time Atlantic 10 Second Team selection. She ranked third on the squad in scoring this year, tallying 13 goals and four assists for 17 points. Her strong mark-up play in the Owl midfield also resulted in 20 groundballs, 17 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers. The Baltimore, Md. native scored a season-high three goals and dished one assist in the 17-4 win over Marist.
