Temple "Boardwalk Football Fan Fest" To Take Place in Ocean City (N.J.) on July 15

PHILADELPHIA - The 2007 Temple Owls will take flight for the Ocean City (N.J.) Boardwalk on Sunday, July 15, to promote the upcoming football season. Head coach Al Golden, players, cheerleaders and Hooter the Owl will be on location at the Music Pier (9th and Boardwalk) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to sign autographs, distribute promotional materials and award prizes.
The 2007 "Boardwalk Football Fan Fest" marks the ninth straight year that the Owls have traveled to the Jersey Shore in an effort to further its fan fortunes. This year's trip culminates a Down The Shore Weekend sponsored by the Owl Club and the Temple University Alumni Association that also features a Young Alumni Happy Hour, golf tournament and barbeque.
Temple opens its 109th season of collegiate football versus Navy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 31. The contest is the first of six home games at Lincoln Financial Field that also includes Saturday meetings with Buffalo (Sept. 8), Northern Illinois (Oct. 6), Miami-Ohio (Oct. 20), Penn State (Nov. 10) and Kent State (Nov. 17).

The only way to guarantee tickets for the much anticipated meeting with the Nittany Lions is to purchase a full or partial season ticket plan. The 2007 season marks the Owls first campaign as a full football member of the Mid-American Conference. With Golden at the helm, Temple signed the highest rated recruiting classes in the MAC in both 2006 and 2007. The Owls are slated to begin preseason practice on August 4 with 44 returning players on their roster, including Rimington Trophy candidate Alex Derenthal and First Team Preseason All-America kick returner Travis Shelton.
