PHILADELPHIA - Actor, comedian, and former Temple football letterwinner Bill Cosby helped the Owls unveil their new uniforms for the 2007 season on Tuesday at Lincoln Financial Field. Head coach Al Golden and former head coach Wayne Hardin were also on hand to help promote the season opener against Navy on Friday, August 31 at 7:30 PM.
Former Temple greats Joe Klecko, Anthony Anderson, Steve Joachim, Skip Singletary and Brian Broomell also enjoyed the festivities at the Headhouse Plaza at Lincoln Financial Field.
Francesca DePasquale and Timmy Kelly, who will sing the National Anthem and God Bless America, respectively, during the season opener were there along with Temple student-athletes Brian Sanford and Anthony Ferla, who wore the new uniforms.
The jerseys are solid cherry or white, with collar and sleeve trim in the opposite requisite color. The collars will be trimmed with diamonds to reference Temple founder Russell H. Conwell's "Acres of Diamonds" lecture. The Temple "T" will be featured at the "V" of the collar. As per Golden's directive last season, player names will not be on the jersey backs. The pants will resemble those worn during the Wayne Hardin Era from 1970 to 1982, featuring a white base with cherry blocks down the legs.
