Temple Defeats Delaware State, 5-1, In Preseason Action

Ambler, Pa. -Temple wrapped up the 2007 preseason on a high note, defeating the Delaware State Hornets, 5-1, on Saturday August 25th at Ambler field. Juniors Katrina Lynch, Wendy Halina and Charisma Wright and newcomers Julia Adden and Meridith Crowell all scored goals in the win.

Halina opened the scoring with a penalty kick, after Lynch was taken down in the box. Lynch responded to tally a goal of her own to put the Owls up, 2-0. Wright made it 3-0 after cutting through the box and chip the ball into the back of the net from 16 yards out. The Hornets finally got on the board right before halftime to make it 3-1 at the break.

Adden's header early in the second stanza made it 4-1 in the Cherry and White's favor and Crowell drove home a far post ball to end the game with the 5-1 result.

Temple opens play next weekend, traveling to Arizona to compete in the Hilton Garden Inn Mountain Classic at Northern Arizona. TU will take on Northern Arizona on Friday, August 31 and Eastern Washington on Sunday, September 2.
