Temple falls to Undefeated Villanova 1-0

VILLANOVA, PA - Nicole Coia scored off a rebound in the 54th minute to lead undefeated Villanova to 1-0 win over visiting Temple Sunday afternoon at the West Campus Soccer Complex. The match marked the first meeting between the Philadelphia area teams since 1998. Villanova improves to 5-0-2 on the season while the Owls fall to 3-2-1.
Freshman Julia Adden managed the only shot on goal for Temple, which was outshot 20-3. Freshman keeper Kara Williams was solid in goal, recording five saves in the loss.
The game's lone goal was set up when a Temple throw-in on the right side was intercepted by junior Erin Hardiman. Hardiman then took a hard shot that was initially blocked by an Owls defender. Coia was the first to get to the loose ball and put it into the net near the left post.
Next up for the Owls is a trip to New Jersey to face St. Peter's on Friday, September 21, at 4:30 p.m.
