Temple Shuts Out St. Peters, 2-0

Jersey City, N.J.- Junior Jenna Rankin scored twice to lead the Temple women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over visiting St. Peter's Friday afternoon. The Owls improved to 4-2-1 on the season with the victory while the Peahens fell to 0-7.
The Owls came out strong in the first half and at 19:51, Rankin scored her first goal with the assist coming from sophomore Jessica Aaron. The Cherry and White outshot the Peahens, 15-0, in the first half.
Temple was again offensively sound in the second half, outshooting St. Peters, 9-3. The Peahens hung tough as their goalkeeper, Leigha Ashman, made seven saves to lead the defense. Rankin found the next again with an insurance tally in the 55th minute. Juniors Wendy Halina and Katrina Lynch assisted on the play.
Temple starting goalkeeper Kara Williams had no saves in the shutout, while Tiffany Kasunich had one stop in the second half.
The Owls will host Monmouth at the Ambler Soccer Complex this Sunday at 1 p.m.
