AMBLER, Pa.- Temple goalkeeper Kara Williams made two critical saves in overtime to allow the Owls to tie visiting Monmouth, 0-0, on Sunday afternoon. Temple moves to 4-2-2 on the season and Monmouth is now 3-2-3.
Williams first came to the rescue in the 95th minute, punching out a 20 feet attempt by Monmouth's Amy Hoyer.The Hawks tried again in the 101st minute but Williams was there again to deflect the ball over the net.
The Owls had a scoring chance of their own in the 102nd minute, but Jenna Rankin's shot hit off the crossbar.
The Hawks outshot the Owls 12-6. Monmouth goalkeeper Lia Fierro had four saves while Williams had seven saves for the Owls. Junior Katrina Lynch led Temple with three shots on goal.
Temple begins its Atlantic 10 schedule on Friday, hosting Dayton at 2 p.m.
