KINGSTON, R.I.- Temple goalie Kara Williams had nine saves, but her efforts fell just short as the Rhode Island Rams defeated Temple, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. The loss, which was the Owls' first Conference defeat of the season, drops Temple to 5-3-2, 1-1 in the A-10. The Rams improve to 7-2-1 and 2-0 in league play.
It did not take long for the Rams to get on the board as Jessica Babice took a pass from Amanda Thomas and put the ball past Williams fjust four minutes into the contest. The game's only tally would prove to be enough as Rhode Island held on for its seventh win of the season.
Jenna Rankin, Liz Roeper, and Katrina Lynch each had a shot on goal for Temple. This is the second straight game that reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Williams has had nine saves, bringing her season total to 50.
URI goalkeeper Jackie Fede had two saves to earn her third shutout in the last four games.
The Owls will look to get back on track on Friday when they host St. Louis at 3 p.m. at Ambler Field.
