PHILADELPHIA-Temple (7-10, 0-1) returns home looking for its first Atlantic 10 win when it hosts St. Bonaventure (12-4, 0-1) on Tuesday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. This is the 43rd meeting between the Temple Owls and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, with Temple leading the series, 27-15. The Owls won the last meeting, 84-60, on March 3, 2007 in the A-10 Tournament.
Shanea Cotton scored a career-high 13 points and Lindsay Kimmel and LaKeisha Eaddy each had 12 points but it was not enough to overcome four Dayton Flyers in double figures as Temple dropped its Atlantic 10 opener, 62-49, to Dayton on Saturday. The opening conference loss is just the second in Dawn Staley's career and her third to the Flyers overall. Temple shot just 34% from the field, while committing 16 turnovers. Shenita Landry had a game-high three blocks, while Lady Comfort grabbed six of the Owls' 30 total rebounds. Kimmel was four-of-nine from long range.
Ashley Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 14.6 ppg and dishing 58 assists. She also leads Temple in three-point shooting, making 32.1% of her attempts. Comfort is averaging 8.5 ppg and a team-high 8.2 rpg. Eaddy has a team-high 24 steals.
Despite sending three players into double digits, St. Bonaventure dropped a 68-61 decision to Saint Joseph's on Saturday. Katelyn Murray drained 4-of-6 three-pointers en route to a team-high 20 points for her third game of at lest 20 tallies this season. For the 16th consecutive contest, sophomore Dana Mitchell reached double figures with 18 points on an 8-for-18 shooting effort from the field, while junior point guard Tiara Johnson matched a career-best 11 points. After falling behind in the waning seconds of the first half, Saint Joseph's owned an edge for all but 1:25 of the final 20 minutes of play.
Mitchell leads two Bonnies in double figures with 20.3 ppg, while Murray is second with 10.5 ppg. Ashley Edwards is St. Bonaventure's top rebounder, averaging 6.9 boards per game, while Andrea Doneth is the top passer with 55 assists.
