Volleyball Dominates Villanova, 3-1

Villanova, Pa.- Junior Yun Yi Zhang led Temple with 19 kills, seven digs and four blocks, as the Owls won their fourth straight match, a 3-1 decision, (25-20, 14-25, 25-21, 25-23) against Villanova on Wednesday night. The Cherry and White dominated net play, earning 16 team blocks to Villanova's three.
Caitlin Loudon had 18 digs, while Ashley Carr chipped in with 12. Defensive specialist Ariel Pierre posted 11 digs. Jacqueline Cowden blocked six opponent attacks. Jackie Morrison contributed a solid game of 39 assists and six blocks.
Zhang proved her dominance early, contributing seven kills and three blocks to a .462 TU hitting percentage, allowing Temple to take a 25-20 victory in set one. The Wildcats had a dismal .062 attacking percentage.
The Owls fell apart in set two, earning just eight kills to Villanova's 17, and giving up the game, 25-14.
Temple bounced back in sets three and four to close out the match with a 3-1 result.
TU (10-6) returns to Atlantic 10 play this weekend when it travels to Duquesne on Friday for a 7 p.m. match.
