CLEVELAND, Ohio - Five Temple football players have been cited with mid-season All-MAC honors by Phil Steele Publications.

Junior defensive end Junior Galette (Spring Valley, N.Y.) earned first-team mid-season All-MAC recognition. An Honorable Mention honoree in the preseason by the same publication, Galette has 36 tackles, a team-best 8.0 TFL, a team-best 5.5 sacks, three break-ups, a hurry, and a forced fumble in six games. Last week at Central Michigan, he led the defense with nine tackles, including five solo takedowns, and a career-high three sacks for a loss of 17 yards.

Sophomore cornerback Jamal Schulters (Brooklyn, N.Y.), overlooked in the preseason, received second-team mid-season All-MAC honors. A starter in all seven games, Schulters has 43 tackles, including a team-best 31 solos. He has a team-best five break-ups, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.

Earning third-team mid-season All-MAC honors were junior linebacker Alex Joseph (Stamford, Conn.), senior kick returner Travis Shelton (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), and sophomore punt returner Delano Green (Fredericksburg, Va.).

In six games, Joseph has 40 tackles, including 19 solo takedowns. Joseph is Temple's nominee for the Butkus Award as the nation's top college linebacker.

A wide receiver, Shelton earned preseason first-team honors at kick returner from Rivals.com and by Phil Steele's College Football. For the second time this season, Temple is ranked No. 1 nationally this week in kickoff returns with a 29.92 average, thanks to Schulters and Shelton. The duo has combined for 748 return yards. Individually, Shelton ranks 10th nationally with a 29.73 return average.

Shelton led the Owls at No. 16/15 Penn State with a season-high 149 yards on three returns, including a season-long 74-yard run. He had three returns for 73 yards in the win at Miami (Ohio), including a 39-yard return. Shelton needs just 101 yards to become Temple's career kickoff return leader.

Green returns as the Owls top punt returner after holding the duty as a true freshman. In the win at Army, Green returned two punts, including a 50-yarder. Against Connecticut, Green had eight returns for 120 yards. Green's punt return average yards per game (13.45) ranks 20th nationally.
