Ambler, Pa.-The Temple women's soccer team tried furiously to mount a second half comeback but was not able to convert, falling 1-0 to the visiting Forham Rams on Sunday afternoon. Temple falls to 2-9-4, 0-4-3 in the A-10, while the Rams improve to 8-4-2, 5-1-1 in the Conference.
The Rams were aggressive from the first whistle and wasted little time getting themselves on the board. Katie Sanchez fired a shot at TU goalie Kara Williams, who was able to stop the ball from going in but was not able to maintain possession. Kim Boulous immediately capitalized on the free ball and poked a shot past Williams for the Rams' first goal at 5:48. Fordham continued to pressure the Owl defense but Williams stood strong. Temple was finally able to get its offense going towards the end of the game, highlighted by two good Charisma Wright runs, but couldn't seem to score, allowing the game to be 1-0 at the break.
The Owls played with a sense of urgency in the second stanza, forcing the ball up the field on numerous occasions. Temple had several chances to score in the midway point of the period, its best chance coming when Katrina Lynch caught Ram keeper Elisabeth Roald out of position in the 25th minute. The senior could not capitalize, however, and the Owls continued to trail. The Rams were not quiet, however, and continued to fire shots at Williams. The sophomore was there to stop the shot every time, giving her team a chance to equalize. The Cherry and White comeback bid fell just short, ending the game with a 1-0 result.
Williams finished the game with five saves. Roald did not have any.
The Owls next travel to Olean, N.Y. to take on St. Bonaventure on Friday, October 24 at 3 p.m.
