Ambler, Pa - The Cherry and White took on a hot St. Joe's team on Sunday at Ambler Sports Complex. The Hawks, winners of six out of their last eight, were held scoreless by the tenacious Owls defense until late in the second half. Hawks forward Laura Adams netted the eventual game winner on a cross from Maggie Lupinski in the 77th minute.
Strong defensive play in the first half kept both teams off the board. The Cherry and White managed two shots in the first half. Forward Wendy Halina missed wide on a one on one with Hawks goalie Cara Critchlow midway through the half.
The Owls had four shots on goal in the second half, but could not capitalize on their chances. Keeper Kara Williams made five saves on the day for the Owls..
The Cherry and White (2-6-3) continue their Atlantic 10 play when they travel to face off at Charlotte, on Friday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m.
