PHILADELPHIA - First year head coach Joe DiPietro of the Temple Softball has announced three players for the class of 2013. DiPietro's initial class at Temple includes Ali Robinson of Woodbury, NJ, Crystal Nyman of Kelso WA, and Kayla Cook of Manheim, PA.
"All three are outstanding players that can make immediate impact on the program," said DiPietro of his first recruiting class. "We are very excited about their arrival."
Robinson plays her high school ball at Gloucester Catholic and her club ball for the Pennsbury Gems Gold.
"Ali will provide us with flexibility. She can play either middle infield position outfield ball," said DiPietro of Robinson.
Nyman hails from the Pacific Northwest, where she is a hard-throwing quality pitcher for Kelso High School in Washington. When not on the mound, Nyman can also play first base. She is also a member of the Washington Lady Hawks club team.
"Crystal throws hard and has the ability to make her ball move. I think she'll have a big influence on our team," said DiPietro.
Cook is a catcher from Manheim Central that DiPietro hopes can one day follow in the footsteps of Kyrstal Metzler.
"Kayla is a quality catcher with very good power. She'll have a year to learn from one of the best in KK Metzler," he said.
Cook is also a member of Blazing Angels Gold.
The Owls open the season on Friday, February 13 against Georgetown at the Florida International Tournament in Miami, FL.
