Women's Basketball Hosts Fordham In Saturday Double-Header

PHILADELPHIA-Fresh off an exciting win at Saint Joseph's, the Temple women's basketball team (16-11, 9-2 A-10) returns to the Liacouras Center to host Fordham (0-26, 0-11) in the first part of a men's and women's double-header on Saturday. The game tips off at 1 p.m.
Series Record
This is the 23rd meeting between the Temple Owls and the Fordham Rams. Temple leads the series, 18-4, and have won the last 13 meetingss. The teams last played on January 14, 2007, when the Owls defeated the Rams, 62-34.
All the Rage
This is not the first time that Dawn Staley, Cathy Andruzzi and Lisa Boyer have all shared the Liacouras Center floor. From 1997-2000, Andruzzi was the general manager of the American Basketball League's Philadelphia Rage, a team that was coached by Boyer and included Staley on its roster. The team, originally located in Richmond, Va., moved to Philadelphia and competed at the Liacouras Center.
Downtown Girl
Coming into her senior year, Ashley Morris made just 38 career three-pointers. 27 games into this season, Morris has made a team-leading 58 treys and is ranked second in the A-10 in that category. Morris has made at least three treys in 12 different games and sank an incredible seven three-pointers in Feb. 6's game against Charlotte, just one shy of the Liacouras Center record. Her 32 points was just six points fewer than the building record.
February Frenzy
Shanea Cotton has really stepped up her game in February, averaging 7.8 ppg and 4.8 rpg in five games. Cotton averaged just 5.6 ppg in 21 games from November through January.
Ashley Morris scored six points in the final minute and 40 seconds to bring the Temple women's basketball team back from a six point deficit and earn a 63-60 hard fought win over the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Wednesday night. Morris finished with 20 points, 17 of which came in the second half, to give Dawn Staley her 167th career win and allow the Philadelphia native to become the program's all-time winningest coach. Shanea Cotton tied her career-high of 16 points, while LaKeisha Eaddy finished with 15 points. Lady Comfort chipped in with 10 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year. Morris dished a game-high six assists, while Cotton had a game-high three steals.
Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 15.4 ppg and dishing 108 assists. Comfort is averaging 9.3 ppg and a team-high 8.2 rpg. Shenita Landry is posting a solid defensive effort of 25 blocks and 31 steals but Eaddy is tops on the squad in thefts with 40.
Megan Mahoney scored a team-high 11 points, while Kassie Humphries added 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocks, but Xavier bested Fordham, 65-42, on Wednesday night. Xavier got the lead to 30 midway through the second half at 61-31, but Fordham put together a strong rally to close out the game. Megan Mahoney hit a pair of three-pointers and a lay-up, as the Rams outscored the Musketeers, 11-4, over the final ten minutes and fall by a final score of 65-42. For Fordham, .
Mahoney leads two Rams in double figures, averaging 15.6 ppg. Annie Zopf is second with 10.5 ppg and tops in assists, dishing 76. Takita Earl is Fordham's top rebounder, grabbing 7.7 rpg, and has posted a team-high 38 blocks.
