Box Score

Pasadena, Calif.-Nicole Caniglia scored four goals, including three in the second half, and dished one assist but it was not enough as the Temple women's lacrosse team (1-1) fell, 10-7, to Cal in the first game of the East West Challenge.

Cal jumped out to a 2-0 lead, netting back-to-back goals in the first three minutes of the game. Whitney Richards got the Owls on the board with an unassisted goal at 19:31 but that would be the last Cherry and White goal for nearly 18 minutes, as the Bears went on a six goal run to take a 8-1 lead at 6:35. Caniglia ended the TU scoring drought with 1:48 remaining to make it 8-2 at the break.

The Owls came out a lot more aggressive in the second half, scoring two goals to begin the second stanza. Caniglia scored on a pass from Berkley Summerlin just two and a half minutes in and then Chelsea Rosiek found Britney Hoffman a minute later to make it 8-4. The Bears scored again at 16:41 but it was just a brief hiccup as Temple rattled off three straight goals to make it 9-7 with six minutes remaining. The Bears crushed Temple's hope of a victory with their tenth and final goal at 5:49.

Richards added two assists to her total, while Summerlin had a goal in the second half.

Due to technical difficulties no other statistics are available at this time.

Temple faces #18 Oregon Saturday at 6 p.m. EST.
