Richmond, Va.- Richmond's Claire Cuniff scored a goal with 34 seconds remaining in double overtime to hand Temple its only Atlantic 10 loss, 11-10, in the Owl's Conference regular season finale. The Cherry and White used an early second half run to take a three-goal lead but the Spiders (8-7, 5-0 A-10) netted a goal with 36 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. Temple finishes the A-10 regular season with a 6-1 Conference record, its best since the 2004 season, and a 9-4 overall mark.

Senior Whitney Richards scored three goals and dished two assists to lead the Owls, while Brittney Hoffman had two goals. Berkley Summerlin and Nicole Caniglia posted one goal and one assist a piece. Chelsea Rosiek, Hillary Richards and Andrea DeSabato all had one goal each.

Whitney Richards got the Owls started after taking a pass from her sister Hillary just two and a half minutes into the game but the Spiders responded with a three goal run to take a 3-1 lead with 20 minutes remaining. Hoffman gave Temple its second goal of the game at 10:10 to get the Owls within one, 3-2. The teams traded goals for the remainder of the half but the Spiders were able to take a 4-3 lead into the break.

The Owls came out with a renewed aggressiveness in the second stanza, rattling off four straight goals in six minutes to take a 7-4 lead. Hoffman started off the run at 27:05 to tie the game at four and Caniglia scored an unassisted goal to give TU its first lead since the opening minutes of the game. Berkley Summerlin and Whitney Richards scored the final two in the run. The Spiders' Nicola Jules scored two straight to end the Temple run and get Richmond within one, 7-6, with 12 minutes to play but Whitney Richards responded with a two goal run of her own to make it a three-goal game yet again at 7:26. Richmond refused to back down, however, and rattled off three straight goals to tie the game at nine with just three minutes to play. Rosiek's goal with 1:13 remaining put the Owls ahead but Anne Ryan's goal with 36 seconds left to force a 10-10 tie and overtime.

The teams played through nearly two overtime periods without scoring and just when it seemed that the game was headed for a shootout, Cuniff found the back of the net with 34 seconds left to ensure the Richmond victory.

Bridget McMullan had seven saves in 66 minutes of action. Richmond goalkeeper Erica Marrocco stopped five Owl shots.

Temple travels to Rutgers on Wednesday, April 16 for a game at 7 p.m.
