PHILADELPHIA - Temple's annual Cherry & White Day is this Saturday, April 19, at the Ambler (Pa.) Sports Complex.
Sponsored by Temple Athletics, the Owl Club, and the Alumni Association, the day's events begin at 10 a.m. with alumni volleyball. Also on the schedule are men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, and a one-mile run-walk.
Intercollegiate competition starts at Noon as the Owl softball team hosts LaSalle in Atlantic 10 action. From Noon to 1:30 p.m., the gymnastics and fencing teams will stage exhibitions. At 1 p.m. the Temple baseball team hosts A-10 opponent Duquesne.
The football team will play its annual intra-squad spring football game at 1:15 p.m.
The Cherry squad, under the direction of Mark D'Onofrio, features QB Vaughn Charlton, C Alex Derenthal, WR Dy'Onne Crudup, WR Bruce Francis, , TB Joe Jones, WR Marquise Liverpool, and TE Steve Maneri on offense. Defensively CB Evan Cooper, DT Elisha Joseph, LB Amara Kamara, LB Omar McDonnaugh-Hales, DB Richard Sheppard, DE James Tindall, and DE Josh Williams will wear cherry.
The White squad, under the guidance of Matt Rhule, features QB Chester Stewart and Colin Clancy, TE Matt Balasavage, WR Delano Green, FB Lamar McPherson, OT Devin Tyler, and TB Jared Williams on offense. Defensively DB Anthony Ferla, DE Junior Galette, DB Dominique Harris, DB Jaiquawn Jarrett, DT Andre Neblett, DB Daryl Robinson, and DB Jamal Schulters will suit up in white.

In addition to athletic events, Cherry & White Day will feature a kids' zone, reunion tailgating, sports apparel sales, music, and food service.

• From Temple University's Main Campus: Follow Broad Street to Cheltenham Avenue (approximately six miles). Turn left and follow signs to Route 309 North. Follow 309 North to Susquehanna Road Exit (approximately eight miles). Exit and turn left on Susquehanna Road to Butler Pike (first intersection), turn right. Go one-half mile to Woods Drive, (see ambulance/firehouse on right). Proceed past soccer fields on left, then softball/baseball fields, and follow into parking lot on left.
• From I-476 (Blue Route) Take Exit 9- Plymouth Road (exit directly before Pennsylvania Turnpike entrance). Stay in the left lane of the Plymouth Road Exit, at the end of the ramp turn right on Plymouth Road. Go one-quarter mile to the light and turn left on Butler Pike. Follow Butler Pike to Woods Drive, (ambulance/firehouse on right). Turn right. Proceed past soccer fields on left, then softball/baseball fields and follow into parking lot on left.
• From the West via I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) Take exit t0 I-476 North and follow the directions from I-476 (Blue Route) printed above.
• From the South via I-95: Take I-95 to I-476 exit. Follow I-476 North 22 miles to Exit 9 - Plymouth Road. Follow the directions from I-476 (Blue Route) printed above.
• From the Pennsylvania Turnpike: Take Exit 26 (Fort Washington) and follow the signs to Route 309 North. Follow309 North to Susquehanna Road Exit (approximately two miles). Exit and turn left on Susquehanna Road to Butler Pike (first intersection), turn right. Go one-half mile to Woods drive, (see ambulance/firehouse), turn right. Proceed past soccer fields on left, then softball/baseball fields and follow to parking lot on left.
• From New Jersey via Tacony-Palmyra Bridge: Follow the signs for Route 73 West (Cottman Avenue, Township Line Road, Washington Lane, Church Road) for approximately 13 miles to Route 309 North. Follow 309 North to Susquehanna Road Exit (approximately eight miles). Exit and turn left on Susquehanna Road to Butler Pike (first intersection), turn right. Go one-half mile to Woods Drive, (see ambulance/firehouse on right), turn right. Proceed past soccer fields on left, then softball/baseball fields and following into parking lot on left.
