AMBLER, PA - Junior Katie Burdeaux tossed seven shutout innings for the Temple softball team, but it was not enough as George Washington's Katie Terrazas broke open a scoreless game with a bases loaded double in the top of the eight inning as the Colonials topped the Owls 2-0 (8 innings) from Ambler Sports Complex on Friday afternoon.

Burdeaux (6-9) pitched about as well as one could without picking up a victory, allowing just two runs in the eight innings of work. Along with shutting out the Colonials for seven innings, Burdeaux struck out seven and allowed just six hits.

With Burdeaux and her GW counterpart Amanda Gabriel nearly unnhittable for the game, the teams finished seven innings tied 0-0. But the Colonials wasted no time getting the offense going in the extra frame, loading the bases on two hits and a hit by pitch. Then, with one down and the bases loaded, Terrazas doubled to deep center field to win the game for the Colonials (9-25, 5-8).

Burdeaux also got it done at the plate for the Owls (13-20, 3-12), blasting a double for the Cherry and White's only extra base hit for the game. Senior Natalie Wagner, senior Teresa Bonavita, junior Chante Pleydle, and sophomore Krystle Metzler also added hits for the Cherry and White.

The two teams will square off again tomorrow afternoon at noon. The game will honor Temple's four senior players: Anna Rico, Teresa Bonavita, Brianna Dairy and Natalie Wagner.
