AMBLER, PA - The Billikens of Saint Louis set the pace for Sunday's doubleheader sweep (8-2, 6-3) over Temple at the Ambler Sports Complex in the first inning of the first game. Saint Louis picked up three runs courtesy of two errors and only one hit in the first of 14 frames on the day. The Owls dropped to 8-11 overall and 1-5 in the Atlantic 10 while the Billikens improved to 15-21-1 and 6-4 in the A-10.

However, Temple wasn't ready to give up as they chipped away at the lead with a run of its own in the bottom of the first. Teresa Bonavita doubled and Courtney Norene knocked her in with a single in the next at bat for the Owls. Bonavita and Norene led the Owls in the first game with two hits each. The Billikens fought back in the second inning with two runs from a single, double and triple from the active offense. The Billikens were up 7-2 by the end of four innings and tacked on and insurance run in the final three frames.

The Owls bats were kept quiet for the majority of the second game as well. Pitcher Brianna Dairy was able to keep the Billikens scoreless until the second inning when Rachel Heet brought teammate Kristin Nicoletti around the base pads for the Billikens' first run of the second matchup.

The Billikens scored three runs in the fifth inning and added another two in the seventh. After a strikeout and ground out, the Owls appeared to be shut out. However, Courtney Norene added her seventh home run of the season. Norene is now one home run away from tying Adrienne Repsher as Temple's all-time home run leader. Krystle Metzler followed with a single and was replaced on the bases by Asia Mason. Mason scored on the next at bat for the Owls after Katie Burdeaux crushed the second home run of the inning for Temple. The Billikens eventually stifled the Owls but not after a commendable attempt at a comeback. Metzler and Burdeaux let the Owls in the second game with two hits apiece.

The Owls will continue a very busy week on Tuesday when they travel to Staten Island for a doubleheader with Wagner. Temple then turns around and comes back to Ambler for a doubleheader with Penn on Wednesday which will begin at 3 p.m.
