Temple Students & Faculty Invited to Football Send Off & Game Viewing Party

PHILADELPHIA - As a part of "Welcome Week" activities, Temple students and faculty are invited to two events surrounding Temple football.
On Thursday, August 28, Temple students and faculty are invited to a team send off as the Owls board their buses for their season-opening game at Army. The team will arrive at Liacouras Walk at 1 p.m. and depart from J & H Dining Hall (Broad & Diamond Streets) at 1:30 p.m.
For the game on Friday evening, Temple students and faculty are invited the "Ultimate Cherry & White Tailgate & Viewing Party" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Temple's game will be shown live, beginning at 7 p.m., on three big screens at the Edberg-Olson Hall football complex (11th & Diamond Streets). The first 1,000 students will receive free t-shirts. Additionally there will be a moon bounce, face painters, and a disc jockey as well as appearances by the Temple cheerleaders, the Diamond Gems dance team, and pep band. Prizes will be given away throughout the event.
In the event of rain, the game will be shown at the Student Activities Center instead.
Both events are sponsored by Temple Athletics and the Welcome Week Committee.
Temple opens the 2008 season at Army on Friday, August 29. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. before a national television audience on ESPN Classic. In their home opener the Owls host Connecticut on Sept. 6 at Noon on ESPNU at Lincoln Financial Field.
